F'n K Tacos is an East LA style taco shop, serving really good street-style tacos on fresh corn tortillas in downtown Rockford. Husband and wife owners Frank (the F) & Kaitlin (the K) bring a West Coast experience to the Fresh Coast. Frank pours his heart into bringing to life the flavors he remembers as a kid growing up in East LA and vacationing at his grandparents' ranch in Zacatecas, Mexico. They focus on authenticity, locally-sourcing ingredients, and providing uncommonly good service.
MEET the F 'n the K
Francisco "Frank" Lamas was born and raised in East LA, where his parents owned and operated a Mexican restaurant and bakery for 25 years. He worked in the family business until his early twenties but couldn't shake the itch to go back to his roots and start a business of his own, serving up street tacos and homemade salsas like the old days. He has an instinct for flavor and a passion for service.
Kaitlin King-Lamas is a West Michigan native who moved to California after spending years in Chicago and New York City. She grew up in a family of small business owners and great cooks, what a combination! She's worked for small businesses her entire life and she shares Frank's passion for high-quality, flavorful fare. She also shares a strong belief that great service is too rare and just as important as the food.
how it began
F'n K Tacos started as a Taco Pop-Up on California's Central Coast, serving San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara Counties.
Hold up, what's a Pop-Up?
We came to you fully equipped to make & serve tacos on-site. We popped up a tent, set up the grill, and made everything right there, including hand-pressed corn tortillas.
We've done private events including company lunches, harvest crews celebrations, birthdays, kids' parties, weddings, and even a baby shower. Beyond the smaller private events, we partnered with local wineries and breweries, making tacos for normal tasting days and doing a little more for private events.
